HelloTalk - Language Learning App Reviews

This app has raised language exchange to a whole new level. It outperformed all of the other apps Ive downloaded (lots). The best feature gotta be its editing function - if your language exchange partner typed sth in wrong grammar you can edit it! I also love its strict enforcement on language exchange and explicitly discourage people treating as a dating app.

I had high hopes for this app. There certainly seems to be a lot of user activity. And the language learning features that this app provides are unmatched by anything else I found. However in the first 45 minutes of trying (on three different Internet connections) I had no luck connecting with anyone. Maybe their servers are overrun with users? I am still very excited to get using this app but I guess thatll have to wait until I am able to connect with at least one of the many users who pop up in search. I guess I will try tomorrow

+ easy to use + free + excellent language learning resource - sometimes freezes - sometimes have to restart to load conversations // message a person who is LEARNING the same language as you but speaks a native language you dont know; you both wont be able to rely on your native languages and its mutually beneficial. // if the people who speak your target language live on the other side of the world, try to allot a certain time everyday to this app when you both are active (10pm/am is usually good)

There are sometimes problems with it, but it is convenient and accurate for short phrases or words (like any other dictionary). // This is just another TOOL to HELP you learn a language. It will NOT teach you the language because that is unreasonable to ask of the users and developers, but, when combined with other resources, this app works as an amazing supplement!

The app keeps sending me notification of some strangers texting me but whenever I go on it just says disconnected. I cant even text my partners anymore

I really love this application, but after the new update, it keeps crashing whenever I open it. Im using ios8 on the iPod touch 5!! Please fix asap

The app sounds like a fantastic idea, and I cant wait to really get started with it! However, I fail to understand why they insist I enter my birthdate in order to register an account in the app. Until I get some clarification on that very troubling issue, this review stands at 1 star.

I AM DISAPPOINTED BY THIS APP! ALTHOUGH THE INITIAL IDEA IS A GOOD ONE, APP DEVELOPERS SHOULD RESPECT PEOPLE FREEDOM AND SPEECH AND NOT IMPOSE THEIR CENSORSHIP ON ANY TYPE OF CONVERSATION TOPICS. MOREOVER, THERE ARE WAY TOOOO MANY RESTRICTIONS IN THIS APP. IN A WORD, I DONT SEE HOW IT WILL STIMULATE SPEECH PRACTICE AMONG USERS, BUT I CAN SEE HOW IT WILL PREVENT THEM FROM SPEAKING! MOREOVER, I REGISTERED FOR PERSIAN AND ALL THE TRANSLATIONS ARE READ IN...ARABIC!?!

The app looks really cool. But nobody will talk to me. :(

The app itself is wonderful! Ive met a lot of new friends that I talk with on a daily basis! My only cry and its a big one is the apps connectivity on an LTE/3G network! Even with full bars and coverage, the app usually or doesnt sometimes connect to the network! Please correct this issue as soon as possible! :) Thanks guys and gals!

Ive been using HelloTalk for a couple of weeks now and must say Im loving it. In a short amount of time I have met numerous people and have improved my Japanese quite a bit. My one complain is the apps issue with cellular networks. Even if I have full bars it wont connect. Overall, its a great app. But please HelloTalk team fix this issue!

アプリ内の接続の調子が悪すぎる。 Notificationsは受信してるのにアプリ内に受信せずちっとも読めない。 なんとかして。

I tried multiple penpal apps to help me learn languages by talking to people. This is THE ONLY APP in which I even got a reply from someone. Thank you Ive meet a lot of Italians now!

I love the idea of this app but I cant get past the registration form. I keep getting a message that says "Check Network Connection and Try Again"

Great app for working on your second language. I love that you can correct text and be corrected by native speakers.

Omg this is making so freakn frustrated! Ive been trying to log back in for like the past month and its not letting me back into my account!!! Aghh!

I love this app! Its really useful, and Ive made great friends through it! The only problem is that is crashes quite a bit, but other than that, its awesome!
